Review by Mike Gnade

Mi Madre Muerta is a heart-wrenching album by El Gallito De Manati that explores the themes of loss, grief and love. The album features a mix of traditional Puerto Rican music styles, including bolero, plena and salsa, all infused with the artist's distinctive voice and soulful guitar playing.

The title track, "Mi Madre Muerta," is a poignant tribute to the artist's late mother, filled with tender lyrics and a haunting melody that captures the pain and longing of losing a loved one. Other standout tracks include "La Ausencia," a soulful ballad about the emptiness left behind by a departed lover, and "La Despedida," a lively plena that celebrates the joy and resilience of life in the face of loss.

El Gallito De Manati's voice is both powerful and emotive, conveying a range of emotions from sorrow to joy with ease. The instrumentation is equally impressive, with richly layered arrangements that showcase the beauty and complexity of Puerto Rican music.
