Tritonus - Tritonus

Review by Thaddeus Nowak

Tritonus, the self-titled album by the German progressive rock band, is a stunning display of musical prowess and experimentation. The album, released in 1975, features six tracks that showcase the band's unique blend of jazz, rock, and classical music.

The album opens with "Between the Universes," a hauntingly beautiful composition that sets the tone for the rest of the album. The track is driven by the soaring vocals of Peter K. Seiler and the intricate guitar work of Werner Frangenberg. The band's use of complex time signatures and unconventional chord progressions is evident throughout the album, but never detracts from the overall beauty of the music.

Tracks like "The Trojan Horse" and "Spartacus" showcase the band's ability to seamlessly blend different genres of music. The former features a groovy bassline and funky guitar riffs, while the latter is a bombastic, cinematic piece that would not be out of place in a Hollywood epic.

The album's standout track, however, is "Preludium," a breathtakingly beautiful instrumental piece that showcases the band's classical influences. The track features a stunning piano melody that is accompanied by a string section and a soaring guitar solo.
