Dollkraut - Theme Of Fukoyama

Review by Joseph S

Dollkraut's latest album, Theme Of Fukoyama, is a mesmerizing journey through a retro-futuristic soundscape. The Dutch producer, Pascal Pinkert, has created a sonic world that is simultaneously nostalgic and forward-thinking. Throughout the album, Dollkraut blends elements of krautrock, synth-pop, and electronica to create a unique and captivating sound.

The opening track, "Fukushima Forever," sets the tone for the rest of the album with its haunting melody and driving beat. From there, Dollkraut takes the listener on a sonic journey through tracks like "Valium" and "Manifold" that are both hypnotic and danceable. The album's standout track, "Holy Ghost People," is a masterpiece of slow-burning synth-pop that builds to a euphoric climax.

One of the strengths of Theme Of Fukoyama is the way that Dollkraut seamlessly blends different genres and influences. There are moments of pure krautrock, like the motorik beat of "Blood In The Streets," but there are also moments of pure synth-pop, like the shimmering "Have I Told You." The result is an album that is both cohesive and varied.
