About Dick Clark
American radio and television personality, television producer and film actor.
Founder/owner of
Best known for hosting the TV shows American Bandstand (from 1956 to 1989), Pyramid game show (5 versions, from 1973 to 1988) and Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve, which transmitted New Year's Eve celebrations in New York City's Times Square. As host of American Bandstand, Clark introduced rock & roll to many Americans. The show gave many new music artists their first exposure to national audiences, including Ike & Tina Turner, Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, Stevie Wonder, Simon & Garfunkel, Iggy Pop, Prince, Talking Heads and Madonna.
Inducted into Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 1993 (Non-Performer).

Thank you so much for posting this. There are very little "artifacts" from American Bandstand available due to the shows being telecast live and videotape being in its' infancy. Most of have seen the December 18, 1957 full episode available on DVD, but clips from the "philly years" are few and far between. Great graphics and images here!
Outstanding piece of Nostalgia. The orig 45 RPM record was sponsored by Hires Root Beer, which was printed on the label. I've got the record here somewhere and am now going to have to retrieve it. It was sold through Bandstand for $1.00. Thanks to whomever posted this gem.
