Review by Ray Bisschop

The album "سمرا يا ام عيون وساع مغرور" by legendary Lebanese singer Fairouz is a timeless masterpiece that showcases her incredible vocal range and emotional depth. Released in the early 1970s, the album features a diverse selection of songs that reflect the rich cultural heritage of the Middle East, from traditional folk tunes to modern ballads.

Fairouz's voice is simply mesmerizing, and she effortlessly captures the essence of each song with her expressive vocals. The album opens with the hauntingly beautiful "Ya Oud," a traditional Arabic song that showcases Fairouz's ability to convey deep emotions through her voice. Other standout tracks include the upbeat "Sahar El Layali," the romantic "Al Bint El Chalabiya," and the nostalgic "Ya Ana Ya Ana."

The arrangements on the album are equally impressive, with a blend of traditional Middle Eastern instruments such as the oud and qanun, as well as Western instruments like the piano and guitar. The result is a rich tapestry of sound that perfectly complements Fairouz's vocals.
