San Francisco 1968 is an impressive album by Vern & Ray with Herb Pedersen. The album features a collection of traditional and contemporary bluegrass music, performed with great skill and passion. The trio's harmonies are tight and their musicianship is top-notch, making for a truly enjoyable listening experience.

The album opens with the upbeat and lively "Banks of the Ohio," which sets the tone for the rest of the album. Other standout tracks include "I Don't Believe You've Met My Baby," "Nine Pound Hammer," and "Cripple Creek." Each song showcases the trio's impressive instrumental skills and tight harmonies.

One of the highlights of the album is the inclusion of several original songs written by Vern Williams. "I'm Going Back to Old Kentucky" and "I'm Blue, I'm Lonesome" are both excellent examples of Williams' songwriting abilities.

About Vern & Ray With Herb Pedersen

The very first bluegrass band to exist in greater Northern California was Vern & Ray and the Carroll County Country Boys. As early as 1959, Vern Williams (mandolin) & Ray Park (guitar) were playing with banjo player Luther Riley. The addition of Clyde Williamson on guitar later that year (and Rays switch to fiddle) truly solidified the group into a bona fide bluegrass band.
