Current Cuts 1971 is a compilation album that showcases the diverse range of music that was popular during that year. The album features tracks from various artists, including The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, and The Who, among others.

The album opens with The Rolling Stones' "Brown Sugar," which sets the tone for the rest of the album. The song's infectious guitar riff and Mick Jagger's distinctive vocals are immediately recognizable and make for a great start to the album.

Other standout tracks on the album include Led Zeppelin's "Black Dog," which features Jimmy Page's iconic guitar work, and The Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again," which is a powerful anthem that still resonates today.

In “THE D” of my youth… DETROIT, the 1980’s….. some 14 years after it’s first release, SUGAR was being played on all the jazz radio like it was top 40….. some artists have it lyrics

I used to make tapes for my older cousin's house parties at his apartment in San Franciso. The crowd was mid-20s to early 30s and have a reel-to-real tape recorder and back then, parties were all about dancing. So I basically taped hours and hours of funk songs. And around 3:30 am, when everyone finally got tired, I would play "Sugar" and even though this wasn't a "jazz" crowd, everyone always dug it. Then we'd chill on jazz and eat pancakes etcetera for another couple of hours.

I was 9 years old when this hit our town in Alabama i was blown away first time I ever heard Jazz. I would sneak in my father's albums Stach and listen to this over and over again until he pullup in the driveway wow still in Love..

When I was working on the Gulf Coast in the mid-'70's, there was an R'n'b AM station that played two different jazz records on alternating hours, leading up to the news:
"Mr. Magic," by Grover Washington, Jr,., and this one.
We all have one or two "road to Damascus" moments: This recording was one of mine.
This is a 1971 release, and what a very heavy band it is, featuring an ex-Miles Davis giant, Ron Carter, on bass, an up-and-coming Freddie Hubbard, on trumpet, and a 5-years-away-from-major-POP-stardom George Benson, on guitar.
