NY 78 is a live album by the British progressive rock band Van Der Graaf Generator. Recorded during their 1978 tour in New York City, the album features a powerful and dynamic performance that showcases the band's virtuosity and intensity.

- Title "N.Y. 78" is misleading:
- * Side A is live at Centre Municipal des Congrès, Québec City, October 7, 1976 (the record starts with French audience voices and Hammill greets the audience in French)
- * Side B is live at Beacon Theater, NYC, October 18, 1976.
- In fact this LP is the same (see matrix numbers) as Montreal 77
- Tracks listed incorrectly on back cover as:

- This is not a different version of the Montreal 77 album. All songs are announced in english.
