Swervedriver - Deep Wound

Review by Irma Hilma

Swervedriver's fourth studio album, Deep Wound, is a true masterpiece of shoegaze and alternative rock. The album was released in 1998, and it still manages to captivate listeners with its intricate guitar work and dreamy soundscapes.

The album opens with the track "99th Dream," which sets the tone for the rest of the album. The song is a perfect blend of driving guitars and ethereal vocals, creating a sound that is both powerful and otherworldly. The album continues with tracks like "She Weaves a Tender Trap" and "Last Day on Earth," both of which showcase the band's ability to create beautiful and haunting melodies.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "These Times," which features a driving bassline and soaring guitar riffs. The song is a perfect example of how Swervedriver can create a sound that is both heavy and melodic. Another standout track is "Duress," which features a hypnotic rhythm and a chorus that will stay with you long after the song is over.

Sublime. Great work OX4. It still baffles me how Swervedriver isn't the biggest band on the planet.
