About Sister Miriam Therese Winter
Sister Miriam Therese Winter MMS (born Gloria Winter; 1938, Passaic, New Jersey) is a Roman Catholic Medical Mission Sister, theologian, writer and songwriter (e.g. "Joy Is Like the Rain" (1966), "Knock Knock" (1968), and "Wellspring of Wisdom" (1989)).
"Joy Is Like the Rain" is primarily acoustic music. The recording was very popular amongst evangelicals in Britain. "Knock Knock" was similarly popular. It introduced two electric instruments: a guitar, a bass guitar and also added drums on some songs.
Winter currently teaches at Hartford Seminary as Professor of Liturgy, Worship, Spirituality and Feminist Studies.

St. Louis Catholic School....1972.....Austin, Tx
Oh my gosh, this takes me back! Love it!
I was in 2nd and 3rd grade at a Catholic parochial school we would sing this song over and over again, even today I sing this song ( Of course to myself )when it hadn't rained in a long time ! To the GOOD TIMES !
My grade school chorus sang this song around 1973, except that the third verse (heard here at 1:15), was omitted. When I asked why this verse was crossed off the manuscript, the teacher simply replied that it was "of a religious nature," and could not be performed in a public school setting. Now, after all these years, this video has all the verses intact, which has given me a chance to hear what had been missing. THANK YOU for bringing this back.
I went to a catholic school and some of our teachers are Nun. A nice beautiful sister named Sister Lutgardiz teach us this song (1967-1968) school year at St James High School Subic Zambales. To this time I still sing the song. Also another song (It's Long road to freedom)
Stowed WAY back in my memory banks. Thanks for finding it and dusting it off!
CD???
This is a long playing record it was old as me.
Yes indeed every song is sung by well doing nuns who care of people and spread good within the world. Sisters in mission I think it says on the record.

I remember Mama Paulson and miss her even more whenever I hear this song.

I remember the record and sitting on my grandma's lap in the middle of the night. When I couldn't sleep I was blue nothing was right she made it better
Praise God, God bless ??
I learned this song in grade school whenever I am sad I think of it and sing it I am always happy afterwards it is truly an amazing song. I love that I found it and can listen to it now whenever I want to. Will share it with others. Nettie
Sr. Nicholas and her guitar at Corpus Christi in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ. I was in 7th grade and I love this song!!
This song reminds me of my mom (RIP) - who loved this album and would play it often. I'm not a religious person, but I still appreciate the memories this lovely song brings back, and the message of joy it contains. I'm glad I was able to find it here.
