Quartette - Farmyard Medley

Review by muhammad habibi

Quartette's album Farmyard Medley is a delightful collection of songs that will transport listeners to the countryside. The quartet's harmonies are tight and precise, and they bring a playful energy to each track. The album features a mix of traditional folk songs and original compositions, all with a rural theme. The standout tracks include the upbeat "Barnyard Boogie" and the hauntingly beautiful "Black Sheep." The instrumentation is simple and effective, with acoustic guitars, fiddles, and banjos providing a rustic backdrop for the vocals. Farmyard Medley is an enjoyable album that will appeal to anyone who loves folk music and the great outdoors.

Notes

Originally released on Edison brown wax cylinder in 1898. This selection was re-recorded for release on moulded black wax cylinder in 1902. First versions had no information pressed into the cylinder rim, but just a faint patent notice, Edison's signature and catalog number etched into the space following the last grooves. This release, which has the title, etc, in bold white at the end of the cylinder likely dates to sometime after August, 1904.
