Review by Joseph S. Lee

The City The Stars, the latest album by the Neil Cowley Trio, is a sonic journey that takes the listener on a mesmerizing ride through a variety of moods and emotions. The album is a perfect blend of jazz, classical, and contemporary music, with each track showcasing the trio's exceptional talent and musical prowess.

The album opens with "Winterlude," a hauntingly beautiful track that sets the tone for what's to come. It's followed by "Echo Nebula," a track that highlights the trio's ability to create a rich and textured sound that is both complex and accessible.

As the album progresses, the listener is treated to a variety of musical styles, from the upbeat and energetic "Garden of Love" to the introspective and contemplative "Grace." Each track is a testament to the trio's ability to create music that is both engaging and thought-provoking.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "Death of Amygdala," a hauntingly beautiful piece that showcases the trio's ability to create a mood and atmosphere that is both haunting and beautiful. It's a track that will stay with the listener long after the album has finished.

Brilliant! Very reminiscent of Neil's earlier Pretz.
Never going to Acton Town by tube again, though.

Love the track, and I sincerely hope it doesn't become an albatross around your neck, following you around for the rest of your career. I don't really get the video though.

Nice to see some older geezers (like myself) making awesome tunes. Think I'll treat myself to the new album as a reminder that creativity only stops when you want it to.

This afternoon I did something I never do, listen to BBC Radio 3 and heard Neil Cowley talking to the Jazz Lines presenter. It was so interesting I went in search of his music. I also heard a heavenly voice, Lizz Wright, Freedom and Surrender.
