Musée Mécanique - Like Home

Review by John Hutch

Musée Mécanique's album, Like Home, is a mesmerizing and melancholic journey that captures the essence of indie folk with its beautifully crafted melodies, contemplative lyrics, and haunting vocals. The album is a tribute to the band's hometown, San Francisco, and its rich cultural legacy, as well as a reflection on the universal themes of love, loss, and nostalgia.

From the opening track, "The Open Sea," with its ethereal harmonies and delicate instrumentation, to the closing ballad, "Goodbye," which evokes a sense of bittersweet longing, every song on Like Home is a gem in its own right. The album showcases the band's versatility and musical prowess, as they seamlessly blend elements of folk, pop, and classical music to create a sound that is both timeless and contemporary.

Standout tracks include "The Lighthouse and the Hourglass," a hauntingly beautiful song that explores the passage of time and the inevitability of change, and "The Nothingness of Now," a poignant reflection on the fleeting nature of life and the importance of cherishing every moment.

so i got a cd free with Q magazine and just put it in the car stereo, not paying attention to the artist names or titles. listening to it for years and finally decided to google this song after a few years, which led me to here. this is a timeless song, i like the use of old synth sounds from the 70s? Its melancholia like they used to write in the 80s. very nice guys.
