The Mrs Ackroyd Band has released their newest album, Yelp, and it is an absolute delight for lovers of folk music. The album features 14 tracks, each one showcasing the band's signature blend of whimsy, humor, and superb musicianship.

From the opening track "The Ballad of the Widdershin Sisters" to the closing number "The Last Will and Testament of Jake Thackray," Yelp is a joyous romp through the world of folk music. The band's original compositions are witty and clever, with lyrics that are sure to bring a smile to your face. The Mrs Ackroyd Band also pays tribute to some of the greats of the genre, including Ewan MacColl and Cyril Tawney.

The musicianship on Yelp is top-notch, with each member of the band contributing their own unique talents. Les Barker's vocals are as charming as ever, and his accordion playing is a joy to listen to. Alison Younger's fiddle playing is simply stunning, and Chris Harvey's guitar work is impeccable.

The Mrs Ackroyd Band, based in Manchester, UK, consists of a core of Les Barker, Alison Younger, Hillary Spencer (replacing previous member Lesley Davies) and Chris Harvey. Named for the late Mrs. Ackroyd, a mongrel belonging to Barker, the band's membership has also included, at one time or another, June Tabor, Martin Carthy, Eliza Carthy, Norma Waterson, Martin Allcock, Bernard Wrigley, Nick Fairclough, Timothy Inman, Eileen McGann, David K(nutson), and Ben Mepsted.
