Joseph Haydn, The Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, Ton Koopman - Concertos Pour Orgue

Review by Maria Karol Hernandez

Concertos Pour Orgue by Joseph Haydn, performed by The Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra and Ton Koopman, is an exceptional album that showcases the virtuosity of both the composer and the performers. The album features three concertos for organ and orchestra, each one a masterpiece in its own right.

The first concerto, in C major, is a lively and joyful composition that showcases the brilliance of the organ and the skill of the orchestra. The second concerto, in C major, is a more contemplative and introspective work, with a hauntingly beautiful melody that is expertly performed by Koopman and the orchestra.

The third and final concerto, in F major, is a tour de force that highlights the full range of the organ and the orchestra. The music is grand and majestic, with sweeping melodies and intricate counterpoint that is expertly performed by Koopman and the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra.

Throughout the album, Koopman's mastery of the organ is evident, as he navigates the complex and demanding music with ease and precision. The Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra is equally impressive, providing a rich and nuanced accompaniment that perfectly complements Koopman's playing.

About Joseph Haydn, The Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, Ton Koopman

Born: 1732-03-31 (Rohrau, Austria) Born 31 march or 1st April, 1732. Died: 1809-09-05 (Vienna, Austria). Franz Joseph Haydn was an Austrian composer of the Classical period. He brings the "sonata form" to a very high degree of improvement. His symphonies and his string quartets (forms of which he is considered "the father") have become highly inspirational style models. Haydn made a fundamental contribution to the development of chamber music; thanks to the numerous quartets, trios for piano, for strings and also with the unusual trios for baryton, viola and cello.
