Review by Elaine Hansen

The album Transparent Blue by John Peter And His Collaborators is a mesmerizing piece of music that captivates the listener from start to finish. The album is a fusion of different genres, including jazz, blues, and rock, creating a unique and refreshing sound that is both soothing and uplifting.

The album features a range of instruments, including the piano, guitar, drums, and saxophone, all played with great skill and precision by the talented collaborators. The tracks are well-structured and well-produced, with each instrument complementing the others perfectly.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "Blue Skies," a beautiful and soulful piece that showcases the exceptional musicianship of the collaborators. The track is driven by a melodic piano riff, which is then joined by the smooth saxophone and the gentle strumming of the guitar. The result is a relaxing and serene sound that transports the listener to a place of tranquility.

Another standout track on the album is "Lost in the City," a more upbeat and energetic piece that features a groovy bassline and a catchy guitar riff. The track is a perfect example of the fusion of different genres, with elements of jazz, blues, and rock all coming together to create a unique and infectious sound.

Notes

This album was recorded in various houses, homes and barns in Skien, Trysil and Rendalen, using Pro Tools, an 8 track hard disc recording unit, a Revox tape recorder, some skills and much luck. It was recorded and maybe not so much produced by John Peter and His Collaborators with great enjoyment. Øystein Imsen did string arrangements, instantly and on the spot, when needed Leiv Arild Pedersen and Terje Nyland cooked up horn and sax arrangements on From Johnny To June and Something Beautiful. The vibrating Bjørn Ola Storbæk kindly fixed and brought the vibraphone to the banquet. Mixing, tweaking and fiddling were mostly done by JP under the influence of Tinnitus. Mastering was done by the mastermind Per Selør. Photos and cover design by the photogenic, terrific Ketil Hardy. Special thanks to Hedda Løkken, Bjørn Støa ( now four years young ), Gøran Grini, Martin Kvamsdal, Tove Hagen, Unni & Per Hagen, Bjørn Olav Storbæk, Leif Winter, Erik Ola Heistad, Svein Johannessen, Kari Nytrøen, Bjørn Nytrøen-Rygh, Leiv Arild Pedersen, Trine Fragell Meland, Håvard Storbæk, Tor Erling Naas and Paal Jensen. Who’s gonna save the children? Viva Los Colaboradores!
