Review by Ayoub Mzee

La Cage Erosmachine, the seventh studio album by French musician and composer Jean Michel Jarre, is a true masterpiece that showcases his unparalleled talent and creativity. Released in 1978, the album is a unique blend of electronic, experimental, and avant-garde music that takes the listener on a journey through a futuristic and imaginary world.

From the opening track "Erosmachine" to the closing track "Hypnose," La Cage Erosmachine is a sonic adventure that defies categorization. Jarre's use of analog synthesizers, drum machines, and other electronic instruments creates a soundscape that is both otherworldly and familiar, as if he is tapping into a collective consciousness that transcends time and space.

The album's standout tracks include "La Cage," a haunting and mesmerizing piece that features a haunting melody and a pulsing beat, and "Deserted Palace," a dreamy and ethereal track that evokes a sense of longing and nostalgia. "Fleuve Congo" is another standout track that showcases Jarre's ability to create complex and intricate rhythms that are both hypnotic and danceable.

A bizarre mix of musique concrete and psychdelic stuff like David Vorhaus' '"White Noise - An Electric Storm'. Still an amazing experiment.

Muy experimental, me gusta!!

Certainly a better sound quality than the other versions of these two songs already posted on YT by other users... very hard to believe they were recorded in 1969! (of course, they were recorded in 1969, but most major labels in France denied on releasing the song at the time because it was very experimental; Pathe Macroni EMI took the risk in '71 but it failed to sell many copies and unsold copies were destroyed making it extremely rare and hard to find today)

Jarre recorded both tracks while he was at the Musical Research Group in Paris in 1969. He also got a drummer from the group to play on the A-side track 'La Cage'. The quiet synth lead on the B-side track 'Erosmachine' sounds a bit like a very slowed down version of the start of 'Equinoxe 8 (Band in the rain)'
