4 lovely boys......
Fantastic
A very good song with brilliant arranging and orchestration for those, or any times. Great post!
I have absolutely no reason to disbelieve in that story, in fact it only adds providence to a truly great piece of music. Thank you for sharing that.
Thank you for posting; I've been looking for this for years!
I love the bridge in this song too!
BEAUTIFUL! Only heard this in Los Angeles July 67'
Thanks for posting. Loved this when it came out. I remember every note. Love the bridge of the song.
Great song. What I love about about Emitt Rhodes is - on first listen his songs are poppy and sound lightweight (in a good way) - but repeated listens reveal an observational and emotional depth that is mature and resonates for a long time. I don't know many artists who can pull this off as well has he did in his songwriting career. It just adds to the artistry of the songcraft, he obviously put a lot of thought and work into his music.
As a fan of Emitt's today, as well as from when this song came out, he and his talent is appreciated and admired by me. Whether or not the story is true , has no bearing on my thoughts of him.
Had this 45 when it first came out. One of my favorite songs of 1967. I have a very unknown fact about this song that will no doubt be unbelievable to some. I know a guy who swears up and down that his father wrote this song and his buddy wrote the music while they were both stationed in Vietnam in the mid '60s. After they returned (thank God) his father sold the song to Emitt Rhodes for $40. He had no reason to lie. An incredible story that I'm sure will burst a lot of bubbles regarding Rhodes.
Great job capturing the high quality sound of this. Thanks!
THANKS FOR THIS!
Amazing sound quality! Thanks so much for posting. RIP Emitt Rhodes.
Great version of great song.
Cool. Wish someone would post the single version of Golden Child with the extra vocals...
If you like this, take a listen to a recently disbanded band from Oldham, The Gramotones.
