Review by Denis St-Michel

Maybe We're Making God Sad and Lonely by Dreamend is an album that captivates the listener with its ethereal soundscapes and introspective lyrics. The album takes the listener on a journey through the melancholic and introspective themes that are prevalent throughout the tracks. The album is a perfect blend of dreamy shoegaze and post-rock, with each song building upon the last to create a cohesive and immersive experience.

Dreamend's use of layered, atmospheric instrumentation is truly captivating, with the album's soundscapes ranging from hauntingly beautiful to melancholic and introspective. The vocals are delivered with a sense of vulnerability and honesty that draws the listener in and keeps them engaged throughout the album.

Perhaps what makes Maybe We're Making God Sad and Lonely so special is its ability to evoke an emotional response from the listener. The album's themes of loss, regret, and self-reflection are universal, and Dreamend's ability to capture these emotions in their music is truly remarkable.

I love this track so much. Wish Dreamend would open shows with it, would give the shows the necessary creep factor from the jump. Ryan Graveface is a genius.

and rolled right in through the door and rolled right up to their faces
and he couldnt stand it any longer, it rolled right up to his feet and he said they all raised, as if by magic all up at once and hollered as loud as they could
and Scardy Black said "Jesus christ, Sam, what is that?"
marknorris3493a7a96f2f
and they all rose there and out the door they went and grabbed their quilts and went along their way back to the wagon and drove on to a safe distance away from this place and stopped and slept in the wagon to rest
they didn't get --- scared ---- the moon was shining
they never did find out what it was
they said it was a strange face they had no idea
----------
To think about a thing like that

well ------
and scardey Black ---- he said "Sam I told you to shut that door" and he said "I did shut it" and said he got up and --- his quilt
And he puts something else, a big old piece of iron down there ------
And this door comes open... and he said they were all scared so bad, didn't anyone speak a word, didn't anyone get up, they laid there there, and held their breath
and he said something... this great big object, black, come rolling, just rolling right up to the door
reymonkapoh951
He said "I most certainly did!"
He said "Well shut it again.." and so he got up and shut the door and put a big old block of wood that was there against the door
and they laid back down and after a little while they heard a big sound and he looked out and heard all this --- and looked out and it was still there - the moon was shining
they laid back down and after a little the sound began again
and it was cold and cold ----------
and went down and the block of wood was as the door came open again

so he said it was clear as it could be, the moon was shining as bright as day and they went in and layed their bed down and they all layed down
they pushed the door too, it had one of those old fashioned latches on there
and they hadn't been laying there for just a few minutes and the door, it began to shake and it shake and shake just a little bit and the roof over their head
and the door came open
and one of the fellas said... "Sam I told you shut that door, didn't you shut it?"

so on one of these trips he and three or four other fellers... a black.. a George Black and called him ---- and John Galleher and Gerome Fits or Jim Fits
And the Bunch of men on this wagon and they said they had drove all day with their stuff and night came on and they always carried their quilts and things to goto bed at night
and they came up on this little old log house that was empty and they thought it would be a good idea and go in there and put their quilts down on the floor and goto bed

In other words they hauled in fish for the soldiers
They had to go into the saw works there... into what is now known as saw grill to bring in food for the soldiers
And most of the times it was just rice and beans and things like that
and on one occasion he said he fed a half of buschel of rice to two mules
he said he was so tired of eating rice he thought he'd get rid of it, and he fed a half of buschel of rice to two mules and it didnt kill em

I partially transcribed the story

Helen, I'd like the tell you a ghost story that will really raise the hair on your head.
You know my granpappy used to sit us around the fireplace at night when we were all children and tell us ghost stories that would have us so scared we was afraid to goto bed
And this is one he used to tell us about something that happened to him in the time of the civil war
He was only 19 years old when he went into the civil war and he was detailed into for the goats
