This song is for a friend..

I don't mean to be Darrel Downer, but this song makes me think of an old friend. I dated her for ten years. We never married because I eventually recognized a narcissistic side to her happy shiny persona. We acrimoniously parted ways eventually. Almost a decade later we reconnected when the guy she left me for had chewed her up and spit her out, and she was broken. I was nice and we became close very friends again, plutonic friends as I wasn't going to make that mistake again. I was somewhat broken too as the sweet and very beautiful girl I had been with was diagnosed with schizophrenia shortly after we got together and had been slowly descending into madness. Everyone who loved her lost her to insanity. It was a very painful and helpless experience so it was nice having a female friend with whom I had a shared history with without the complications of a romantic relationship. Several years later I was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer. I didn't have a girlfriend at the time and I have no family. I'm not a needy person, but I really needed someone to help out a little, and a friend, the nurturing female kind. But for some reason my "friend" practically ghosted me. When she didn't contact me I didn't bother to reach out to her. However, that didn't stop her from asking me for help when she needed it a couple of years later. She acted as though nothing was out of sort. I obliged, but I didn't want anything more to do with her. She didn't even ask how I was doing. I am still tall, dark, and handsome, but I haven't pursued anyone or accepted their overtures since my diagnosis as I don't believe that it would be fair to win a woman's heart for my gain only for her to experience the pain of watching me slip away. However, she got married, moved away, and couldn't be happier from the looks of it. Good riddance old friend. You think you are such a good and righteous Christian, but you are a horrible person.

When I listen to this song I terribly miss my younger brother who died misteriosly we loved listening to Dolly Parton RIP Abu
