Review by James Duffy

David Dee's latest album, Workin This Dream Overtime, is a thoughtful and introspective collection of songs that showcase his impressive songwriting skills and soulful voice. From the upbeat and catchy opening track "Workin This Dream Overtime" to the haunting and emotional ballad "Memories of You," the album takes listeners on a journey through Dee's personal experiences and struggles.

Throughout the album, Dee's lyrics are honest and relatable, tackling themes such as love, loss, and perseverance. His voice is raw and powerful, conveying a range of emotions that will resonate with listeners. The instrumentation is also impressive, with a mix of acoustic and electric guitars, piano, and drums creating a dynamic and engaging sound.

One standout track is "Hold On," a hopeful and uplifting song that encourages listeners to keep pushing through difficult times. The chorus is catchy and memorable, and the driving beat and soaring guitar solos make it a standout track.

About David Dee

Born in Mississippi but St. Louis was the town he has called home since childhood after his mother moved the family in the middle of the night from Mississippi. She was in debt to the owner of a plantation, where the family was living as sharecroppers. She wanted a better life for her family. She called the boss man and said she needed $200 to buy Christmas gifts for the kids, Dee said. Instead, she used the money to buy bus tickets to St. Louis, where she had family." Dee worked the club scene, including the all-night venues in East St. Louis. Howlin Wolf recruited Dee to play bass for him. Albert King did the same. He played behind Jimmy Reed and performed and recorded with Oliver Sain, who presented Dee with a track that needed some lyrics. The collaboration became Goin Fishin.
