BosseDeNage - II

Review by Pesan Computer

BosseDeNage's album II is a masterpiece of experimental black metal, showcasing the band's ability to blend harsh, abrasive soundscapes with moments of delicate beauty. The album opens with the haunting "The Arborist", which sets the tone for the rest of the record with its eerie, atmospheric guitar work and haunting vocals. From there, BosseDeNage takes the listener on a journey through a series of intense, emotionally charged tracks, such as "Desuetude" and "A Subtle Change".

One of the standout tracks on the album is "The Most Modern Staircase", which features a driving, almost punk-like rhythm and some of the most memorable riffs on the record. The vocals on this track are particularly impressive, with the singer shifting seamlessly between harsh screams and clean singing. Another highlight is "Cells", which begins with a delicate guitar melody before erupting into a frenzy of blast beats and frenzied riffing.

The band's second 2011 album is a replica of their debut. Once again, the clean production and flatter sonic dynamics (particularly the drums) make more harm than good.
