Review by Robert Parelo

Alvin Lucier's album Silver Streetcar For The Orchestra is a unique and experimental piece of music that showcases the artist's creative genius. The album features a single composition, which is divided into several parts, each exploring different sonic textures and musical ideas.

The opening track, "Silver Streetcar For The Orchestra," sets the tone for the rest of the album with its haunting and otherworldly soundscape. Lucier's use of extended techniques and unconventional instrumentation creates a sense of unpredictability and excitement that carries throughout the entire piece.

As the album progresses, the listener is taken on a journey through a variety of moods and atmospheres, from the eerie and unsettling "In Memoriam Jon Higgins" to the dreamlike and ethereal "Fideliotrio."

One of the most impressive aspects of the album is Lucier's ability to create a sense of space and depth through his use of sound. The listener is transported to different sonic environments, from the intimate and personal to the grand and majestic.
