Review by Mujer Alternativa

Stars Of The Forties by Al Jolson is a timeless masterpiece that showcases the legendary singer's incredible talent and charisma. The album features some of Jolson's most iconic performances, including "The Anniversary Song," "Swanee," and "Mammy," which continue to captivate audiences even today.

The arrangements and production on this album are top-notch, showcasing the rich orchestration and lush sound that were hallmarks of the era. Jolson's voice is as powerful and emotive as ever, and he effortlessly brings each song to life with his signature style.

One of the highlights of this album is the inclusion of several duets with other famous singers of the time, such as Bing Crosby and Judy Garland. These collaborations add an extra layer of depth and richness to the already incredible performances.

LETRASI've been away from you a long time
I never thought I'd missed you so
Somehow I feel
You love is real
Near you I long to wanna beThe birds are singin', it is song time
The banjos strummin' soft and low
I know that you
Yearn for me too
Swanee! You're calling me!Swanee!
How I love you, how I love!
My dear ol' Swanee
I'd give the world to be
Among the folks in
D-I-X-I-E-ven now My mammy's
Waiting for me
Praying for me
Down by the Swanee
The folks up north will see me no more
When I go to the Swanee Shore! The birds are singin', it is song time
The banjos strummin' soft and low
I know that you
Yearn for me too
Swanee! You're calling me!Swanee, Swanee, I am coming back to Swanee!
Mammy, Mammy, I love the old folks at home!

1:07-1:18.; One of my bird's always chirped when this part would come on.

I down-loaded this song for my late grandmother (my dad's mother) when I was in 5th grade, which was when I got introduced to down-loading music, in the first place.

Great times...
